Keila Hill-Trawick: Hello. You're listening to Build to Enough, a podcast for entrepreneurs who want to scale at their own pace. I'm your host, Keyla Hill Traywick, and I'll be your chief storyteller and cheerleader in a world that glorifies endless expansion, we're tuning out the noise and discussing the beauty of enough. Each episode will dive into inspiring stories, practical insights, and strategies to cultivate sustainable success on your own [00:00:30] terms. So whether you're a solopreneur, small business owner, or aspiring entrepreneur, get ready for a refreshing take on the entrepreneurial journey. This is build to enough. Hey, and welcome back to the podcast. Now up until today, you have known us as Fish Food, where we provide bite sized accounting advice in 15 minutes or less. And today I have a little bit of bittersweet news to share. Over the past few years, in more [00:01:00] than 100 episodes, we've covered a wide range of topics, from balance sheets to tax strategies. But today, we're embarking on a new journey. Call it a pivot in the content that we're providing, and that we're ready to share with you. Throughout our conversations around accounting and taxes, there's been a consistent theme that has come up for us, and that is the idea that success or growth doesn't look the same for everybody. Everybody isn't looking for the biggest, baddest company, and that's perfectly okay. [00:01:30] So today I'm introducing a new concept for the show called Build to Enough, where we want to focus on building sustainable businesses, not necessarily trying to become the next fortune 500 company. It's really about building the business of your dreams that aligns with your lifestyle and your values while generating revenue, and then build to enough.

Keila Hill-Trawick: We start with what is enough that's going to look different for everybody. For some people, it's more time with your family or more vacation time. [00:02:00] It could mean taking sabbaticals every year, 3 to 6 months where you're not even worried about work. It might even mean that the business is really generating revenue to support the hobbies and other things that you want to do outside of work. Enough looks different for everyone, and on this podcast, we really want to investigate how we can make sure that the businesses that we're building are supporting our definitions of that word. Now here's the thing we are not anti growth. This podcast is not about crushing growth [00:02:30] or deciding that you don't want to scale at all. What we really want to discuss though, is getting off of the hamster wheel. This incessant need for growth can cause other issues that you may not even be thinking about, and we want to make sure that we address those so that your lifestyle is the goal, and not just growth by any means. Now be clear we're not abandoning our roots in accounting and taxes. After all, it's what I do, and it will be a big part of how this podcast moves forward. Instead, we want to make sure that that is woven [00:03:00] into our conversations about sustainable growth, so that everybody recognizes that the bottom line isn't the only point of the business, it is a major part. We want to make sure that we're all getting paid, but that it's not the only thing that we're chasing in trying to build businesses that we can be proud of and live alongside. On this journey, we'll explore sustainable business practices, ways to maximize your profits, and how to work in a way that supports the life that you want for yourself.

Keila Hill-Trawick: We'll feature stories [00:03:30] of small business owners and experts in fields who can answer the questions that come alongside the decision to build to enough, and talk to those who have found tremendous satisfaction in making that choice. So whether you're working in a micro business from your home office, cuddling up at a coffee shop or a co-working space, or managing a small team, this podcast is for you. This podcast is for us. I'm doing the same thing as I build little fish, and a lot of the things that I'm running into, [00:04:00] I expect that you will too. We want to be able to support all of those stages in a way that both allows you to be a good leader for your team, and allows you to clock out at the end of the day to really enjoy your life. Thank you for joining us on this exciting journey. We really can't wait to continue to explore the concept of Build to Enough with you.
